ASTM A270 stainless steel sanitary tubing is one of the most widely used hygienic tube standards in the food and beverage, dairy processing, brewery and pharmaceutical industries. It is designed for highpurity fluid transfer where hygiene, cleanability and corrosion resistance are critical. Our ASTM A270 stainless steel sanitary tubing / sanitary tube / sanitary pipe is manufactured and tested in strict accordance with ASTM A270 requirements, and is available in both 304 and 316L stainless steel grades.
The inner and outer surfaces are finely polished, with optional finishes such as BA, 2B, 180 grit, 240 grit and 320 grit. The internal surface roughness can be controlled to Ra ≤ 0.8 μm or Ra ≤ 0.6 μm, effectively reducing product residue and bacterial adhesion, and fully meeting food grade stainless steel tube and pharmaceutical grade sanitary tubing standards. Both welded sanitary tubing and seamless sanitary tubing are available, with size ranges typically covering OD 1/2"– 12"(12.7mm ~ 304.8mm), perfectly matching standard sanitary fittings, clamps, ferrules and valves to build a complete stainless steel sanitary piping system / hygienic piping system.
As a professional ASTM A270 stainless steel sanitary tubing manufacturer and supplier, we offer stable quality, strict dimensional tolerances and customized options including special lengths, specific surface finishes, material test certificates and inspection reports. Our ASTM A270 sanitary tubing solutions help food plants, dairy factories, breweries and pharmaceutical manufacturers achieve reliable hygienic process lines and comply with relevant hygiene regulations and quality audits.

ASTM A270 stainless steel sanitary tubing is produced from selected 304/316L stainless steel with full heat number traceability and mill test certificates. The complete process – from raw material inspection, forming and welding, solution annealing to final polishing – is controlled under standardized procedures to ensure stable quality. Dimensional tolerances, wall thickness and surface finish are monitored according to ASTM A270 requirements so that each length of tubing is suitable for hygienic applications.
Each batch of ASTM A270 sanitary tubing is subject to dimensional and visual inspection, as well as checks on inner surface roughness (Ra) and weld appearance. According to customer requirements, we can perform hydrostatic testing and/or eddycurrent testing to verify weld integrity and ensure the tubing is free from leakage, cracks and other critical defects. Test reports and MTCs can be provided together with the goods for quality documentation and project approval.
The inner and outer surfaces are supplied with hygienic finishes such as 2B, BA, 180 grit, 240 grit, 320 grit, as well as mechanically polished (MP) or electropolished (EP) options. Internal roughness can typically be controlled to Ra ≤ 0.8 μm, with Ra ≤ 0.6 μm available for highpurity applications. Smooth surfaces reduce product residue, improve cleanability and support CIP/SIP cleaning procedures.
ASTM A270 sanitary tubing is solution annealed after forming and welding to restore corrosion resistance and ductility. For more demanding hygienic and highpurity systems, bright annealed (BA) tubing can be supplied, offering a cleaner and smoother internal surface that further enhances cleanability.
ASTM A270 stainless steel sanitary tubing is widely used in:
It is designed for hygienic transfer of products and cleaning media in CIP/SIPcompatible sanitary piping systems, and can be matched with standard sanitary fittings, clamps and valves to build complete process lines.
Each tube is fitted with plastic end caps and wrapped in plastic film to protect against dust, moisture and mechanical damage. Tubes are bundled and further protected with woven bags or packed in wooden cases/pallets for safe sea and land transport. Each bundle is clearly labeled with size, grade, standard and heat number, ensuring easy identification, warehouse management and full traceability for project documentation.
